Staff Accountant

Our client is a leading transportation and logistics company serving the Southeast for over 50 years. Known for reliability, safety, and exceptional client service, the company provides transportation solutions throughout multiple states and serves as a contract carrier for USPS and UPS.

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join the accounting team at the West Palm Beach headquarters. This role will support the Controller in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and delivering timely financial reporting for a growing transportation and logistics operation.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain general ledger account reconciliations.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
Record journal entries and support financial statement preparation.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany transactions.
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
Assist with payroll accounting and related reconciliations.
Prepare schedules and documentation for audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
Analyze financial data and investigate variances.
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
Identify process improvement opportunities and support accounting system enhancements.
Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned by the Controller and leadership team.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
Proficiency with QuickBooks online and Advanced Microsoft Excel.
Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Transportation, logistics, trucking, or fleet industry experience is preferred.
